The voice is a very personal and powerful expression of our being. In practicing Voice Awareness we use our voice to balance our self and deepen our Meditation practice.
The voice becomes a gentle tool for deepening calmness and connecting with the subtle energies of the body. Well grounded in the awareness of the body we direct simple sounds and sacred syllables to the different energy centers. Through utilizing the power of the voice and in exploring the vibration of the sound blockages are touched and softened, energies are balanced and the heart and mind naturally expand.
This practice is for anyone who wishes to explore feeling and seeing more deeply, thereby freeing the heart/mind and voice for greater expression. The practice is suitable for anyone with any experience of meditation as well as for beginners and people who experience difficulties expressing themselves through the voice.

Description from the book Tibetan Relaxation by Tarthang Tulku:
“Kum Nye comprises a series of simple but effective healing exercises that work to relieve stress, transform negative behavioral patterns, promote balance and health and increase our enjoyment and appreciation of life. In modern times, confusion, chaos and over stimulation have become such a feature of daily activity that we are often too tense and charged up to enjoy life. Kum Nye works to counter this effect: opening our senses and our hearts so that we feel satisfied and fulfilled, able to appreciate every aspect of our lives more fully.”
The practice of Kum Nye is integrated in most of our Meditation workshops and retreats.
