Mindfulness Meditation, (also called Vipassana or Insight Meditation) is an ancient method to cultivate peace of mind by seeing clearly the way things are. It is a simple tool with great power to transform our lives. Instead of being caught in stress and pain, we learn to understand the causes of our difficulties and respond to them more skilfully.

In Mindfulness Meditation we cultivate non-judgemental awareness in our moment-to-moment experience. We focus the mind on the breath in order to relax and connect with the present moment. Through observing the experience of the five senses and the mind/heart we develop the potential to experience each moment, no matter how difficult, with greater compassion and understanding. Through basic Meditation techniques it is possible to cultivate a quiet mind, develop emotional stability, understand the feelings of others just as our own and release the constraints we place on our own happiness. This practice has benefitted countless people over many centuries.

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs.
Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go and do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive".

by Harold Thurman Whitman

Loving Kindness Meditation or Metta Meditation is a beautiful way of calming the mind and connecting with ourselves and others with care and love. Instead of loving only if we get what we want, we want to extend love and friendliness, even if we don't get back what we would like. We aim to come to a place of unconditional love, accepting and loving ourselves just the way we are, accepting and loving others just the way they are. Loving kindness is not aimed at one particular person; rather it develops a beautiful quality of heart in order to live from a place of calmness and understanding and compassion. This benefits our self as much as every other living being. We can cultivate this quality of loving kindness in our everyday life. In doing so, we relax the mind and accept the totality of our experience with gentleness.

'If we truly loved ourself, we would never harm another.
Because harming another is like harming ourself."
Dalai Lama

Description from the book Tibetan Relaxation by Tarthang Tulku:

“Kum Nye comprises a series of simple but effective healing exercises that work to relieve stress, transform negative behavioral patterns, promote balance and health and increase our enjoyment and appreciation of life. In modern times, confusion, chaos and over stimulation have become such a feature of daily activity that we are often too tense and charged up to enjoy life. Kum Nye works to counter this effect: opening our senses and our hearts so that we feel satisfied and fulfilled, able to appreciate every aspect of our lives more fully.”

The practice of Kum Nye is integrated in most of our Meditation workshops and retreats.

Kalyana Centre has a range of CD’s designed to be a guide for deepening and expanding Meditation practice and for developing increased intuitive awareness, compassion and insight into seeing the way things truly are. They can be a powerful tool to be used on a regular basis for relaxation and relieving stress. These CD’s are used in the 8-week  Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. They can also be used individually as needed to stay connected, to relieve stress and enhance the daily practice of Mindfulness.

Guided Meditation: Body Scan
This CD helps to bring more awareness to the body. By connecting with any body sensations, just as we find them, pleasant, unpleasant or neutral, without judging them, we come to a place of accepting our self as we are in this moment and we begin to understand deeply the ever changing nature of things.

Guided Meditation: Mindful Movement
This CD combines simple body movements – based on Kum Nye Yoga – with deep relaxation. If used on a regular basis it helps develop a closer understanding of the Mind/Body process as well as expand intuitive awareness. It gives insight into who we are and fosters compassion. While the emphasis of this CD is awareness practice, it also helps to strengthen the body, loosen tight muscles and release long hold tension.

Guided Meditation: Sitting Meditation
Sitting Meditation enables us to see the ever changing process of the 5 senses and the mind. By observing sound, sensations, etc. , as well as mindstates/emotions and thoughts arising and passing, we develop the wisdom to see all of life with more equanimity.

How to use the CDs
Meditation practice is a time of non-doing, a period set aside for being with yourself, for healing and awakening. It is best to use these CD’s on a regular basis, in a quiet place. Allow yourself the time to be really present. Relax into just being. See if you can be alert and relaxed at the same time. Do not expect anything particular to happen. Don’t judge your experience, accept the moment as it presents itself and be present for whatever is unfolding. The wisdom is already within you and will make itself known.

How to Order
Cost of the CD’s is € 10 including postage.
